Fuel Up: Before, During and After Your Workouts!
Your body is your vehicle, so you have to keep your engine running when you work out. That means fueling up your body by eating the right foods and drinking the right fluids, in the right amounts at the right times.
The American College of Sports Medicine says, “Adequate food and fluid should be consumed before, during, and after exercise to help maintain blood glucose concentration during exercise, maximize exercise performance, and improve recovery time. Athletes should be well hydrated before exercise and drink enough fluid during and after exercise to balance fluid losses.”
February is National Heart Month
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States for both men and women. But you can do a lot to protect your heart and stay healthy.
Heart-healthy living involves understanding your risk, making choices, and taking steps to reduce your chances of getting heart disease, including coronary heart disease, the most common type. Coronary and other types of heart disease cause heart attacks, but by taking preventive measures, you can lower your risk of developing heart disease and also improve your overall health and well-being.
Here are some ways that you can participate and make sure that you are living your most heart-healthy lifestyle!
It's no secret that I absolutely LOVE nachos.... like, really really love nachos. So, when I found this recipe for heart-healthy nachos, just imagine the joy it brought me! I can't wait to try this recipe. And, let me know if you give it a try!
