LH FITNESS MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: 

Sarah Lemore

 

I first met Sarah about five years ago in Shannan Reese's Zumba® class. Our mutual love of dance and music , as well as a mutual admiration for one another, was shared immediately. We started taking other classes together - Spinning® was another favorite we shared. 
It wasn't long before we started sharing deeper thoughts before and after class: Namely our insecurities, our injuries (LOL) and our aspirations. We became one another's ear to listen, cheerleaders supporting one another, and sometimes... (although rarely) a shoulder to cry on. 
This was before I ever became licensed or certified to teach any fitness classes. 
In the summer of 2017 I had major reconstructive surgery on my left leg. I was out of the gym for three months - but Sarah always kept in touch... checking in with text and Facebook messages. 
Once I returned to the gym in January of 2018, I hit the ground running with my workouts again.. and Sarah was there to support me. 
When I decided to go for my first license, my Zumba® license, Sarah informed me that she had once been licensed to teach as well! I couldn't believe I never knew that! She told me what the training would be like and what to expect when I first got started. But the most important thing she did was she SUPPORTED ME! She showed up to my practice classes, she came to my first teaching gig (pictured above) and she even made the trek to South Jersey to take Sunday morning Zumba® classes (and she brought friends)!!! 
Right before the world of group fitness classes would be changed by a worldwide pandemic, Sarah got a new job! A work-from-home job and she was no longer going to be traveling in to Center City. Meaning.. she was no longer going to be taking my classes! We joked and we said, "We're going to have to find a way to workout together!" 
A very short time later, COVID-19 happened and we found ourselves quarantined. 
When I decided to start teaching online, Sarah was one of the first people to sign on! 
Somehow the universe made sure that we would continue to see one another and workout together - and she's literally in class almost every day. 

Sarah, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your endless support! You have motivated me more than you know and I am so grateful to not only have you as a client - but to have you as a great friend!

Heat Exhaustion! Know the Signs! 

Exercise-related heat exhaustion happens when your body can no longer get rid of the extra heat made during exercise, and your body temperature rises more than is healthy. Not drinking enough fluids during exercise can also cause dehydration. Together, these things can make you collapse.

On its own, heat exhaustion does not usually cause complications. If you have severe dehydration along with heat exhaustion, you may have problems like kidney damage or low blood pressure.

If not treated, heat exhaustion can progress to heat stroke. Heat stroke is a condition in which your body temperature rises even higher.
