Forever FIT Membership Spotlight:
Carolyn Folk

I met Lauren at PSC (Philadelphia Sports Club) in center city. We became friends while taking a Zumba class that we absolutely loved. We were part of the front row dancers called “The front row Divas”. We also enjoyed taking Step, Cardio Sculpt and Total Body. We hit it off after taking those classes together on a weekly basis. Lauren began teaching classes that I absolutely love, and we have been friends ever since.
My name is Carolyn Folk, and I am a 54 year old very competitive lady who loves working out.  I have a significant other, Aaron, who enjoys taking Lauren's classes with me. Hopefully, I will get him to take more of them…lol. I also have a 33 year old daughter, Dominique, who has blessed me with two handsome grandsons; Cadence, 12, and Blake, 6. The three of them are the loves of my life.
COVID hit in March, Lauren mentioned in her newsletters shortly thereafter that she would be teaching virtual classes and I knew that I was going to be a part of that because this woman can teach some classes. She is a beast and I love that about her!
While working out at PSC, work often got in the way of consistency with my workouts. I’ve noticed while taking these virtual classes with LH Fitness, not only can I work out LIVE with friends - but if I miss a LIVE class, I have the option of visiting her library and taking a class of my pleasure.
I love all of her classes but I have to say that it’s a tie between Zumba and Strong. These are my favorites.
I don’t see where I’m losing... but every time I see someone from work that I haven’t seen a while, they tell me that I lost a lot of weight. I really can’t see it, but I do know that I have gotten much stronger!
I hope to achieve losing more weight and just overall staying fit and healthy.

Group Fitness Can Boost Your Self Confidence

First of all, I need to tell you how much I absolutely LOVE and ADMIRE each one of these women! They are each so strong and admirable - they keep me motivated and light me up each time I see them!

Exercise is one of the biggest self-confidence boosters out there. It helps you feel and look better through losing weight, strengthening and toning your body, reducing stress, and giving you a sense of achievement.

However, getting started on an exercise program and sticking with it can be quite the uphill task.

Other than the physical results you can expect from group fitness classes, there are also several benefits of group fitness for self-confidence. Improving self-esteem will help you achieve success in all aspects of your life.

There are many reasons why people fail to stick to their exercise regimens. For instance, many people do not enjoy the workouts their trainers set for them.

Group fitness classes bring a fun element to training that allows you to enjoy the workout. Boot camp classes are perfect for those social exercisers and those who get bored easily.

Not knowing what to do can be quite discouraging, especially for beginners who may feel out of their depth in a gym.

Group fitness classes offer direction from a qualified fitness instructor (me). This makes it easier to learn correct posture and techniques to minimize injuries and maximize results.

A Wide Range of Fitness Options

Whether it’s weight loss, increased strength, flexibility, endurance, or better cardiovascular health, we all have different fitness goals.

The diverse array of available group training programs allows you to pick a class that is best suited for you. This can motivate you to stick to your exercise plan.

Weight training builds muscular endurance. Aerobic classes improve your cardiovascular system. Dance or yoga-based classes help with flexibility.

And cardio sculpt classes increase the speed of weight loss and help keep the weight off permanently.

Choosing your ideal group fitness class will boost your confidence because you get to do something you like, get fit, and make new friends.

With personal exercise regimens, you are accountable for showing up and putting in the work yourself. However, group fitness programs provide entire communities of like-minded people who are rooting for you to succeed and reach your goals.

This motivates you to show up and do your best while boosting your self-confidence when you see results.

With Forever FIT we emphasize family. Our members and coaches provide a judgment-free environment where anyone can feel comfortable working out.

Structured Workouts

Structure is vital if you want to see any results in your workouts. A well-structured routine will help you reach your fitness goals faster and will keep you motivated, since you know what to expect during each workout session.

Most group fitness workouts have guidelines to follow no matter what your fitness goals may be. These guidelines ensure that each workout session is efficient and brings you closer to your desired results.

By structuring your workouts, you will contribute towards boosting your self-confidence and tear through your comfort zone as working out becomes more of a habit.

Faster Results

The whole point of joining an exercise program is to achieve your fitness goals. The journey to getting fitter can be frustrating, but group fitness programs bring fun into the workouts.

The teamwork, intensity, and productivity that these group classes incorporate into their programs help you get results faster.

As a result, workouts are less intimidating, which goes a long way in boosting your confidence to work out.

Not knowing what to do or who to turn to for help can be daunting.

Forever FIT group classes incorporate music and fun moves into our programs.

In a group setting, you will meet new like-minded people, share useful tips, and have fun. You can bond with others over your common interests.

The informal, tense-free environment lets you concentrate on working out while building friendships, which in turn boosts your confidence as you embark on your fitness journey.

Increased Energy Levels

Strength training, HIIT, barre, aerobics, and even yoga can be hard to complete when solely focused on form and reps. The intensity and excitement of group exercise sessions spurred on by upbeat music, the energy of the crowd, and enthusiasm pump you up from start to finish.

Your increased energy levels reduce any lingering anxiety or tension you may experience. This boosts your confidence in yourself, the workout and your regimen.

There are more benefits of group fitness than self-confidence, including improving your mood, preparing you for sports, making you feel less intimidated, and providing you with the support you need to move you forward on your fitness journey.

The importance of exercise for your self-confidence cannot be underestimated. It tones and strengthens your muscles, which can make you look good and can change the way you view your body. Exercise also broadens your social circles, reduces stress, and improves your quality of life. Group exercises deliver these benefits to you in a fun, supportive environment.

Forever FIT is also cost-effective, saving you money you would be spending for more expensive personal training. The motivation and support that comes from group fitness classes can help you develop into a happier, fitter, and more confident person in life.

Forget About Losing Weight!

Body recomposition: How to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time

If you've ever said something like "I want to tone up" or "I want to lean out," you were referring to body recomposition, even if you didn't know it. Body recomposition -- or altering your physique by burning fat and gaining muscle at the same time -- is a different approach to health and fitness than the typical weight-loss mindset.

Many people think that true body recomposition is impossible because of this conundrum: To reduce your body fat, you have to eat fewer calories than you burn. But to build muscle, you have to eat more calories than you burn.

Your body is smarter than you may give it credit for, however, and by keeping a close eye on your diet (specifically when you eat what) and your training, you can absolutely lose fat and gain muscle at the same time.

How Long Does It Take to Lose Muscle?

While not ideal, many of us have to pause our workout routines from time to time. Whether you’re stressed, sick, injured, going on vacation or just need a break, there are plenty of reasons to take time off from exercise.

But, no matter how badly you need the break, you may worry about losing all your hard-earned muscle before you’re ready to start training again.

Pumpkin Spice Protein Smoothie

The pumpkin spice trend all started with a sugary latte, calling out to your need for comfort and the familiar scents of pumpkin pie. In this smoothie, you can revel in the pumpkin and the spices, along with a respectable amount of protein. The sweetness comes from the frozen banana and a touch of fall-friendly maple syrup. This is a filling breakfast that travels!
